Cornwall has the most spectacular choice of fantastic beaches. Choose from the 165 Cornish beaches – from secluded coves to wide golden sands, from surfing beaches to safe family beaches – Cornwall will not disappoint. Below is a tiny selection of some of Cornwall’s Beaches.

  • Located between the headlands of Pedn Olva and Porthminster Point lies the sheltered beach of Porthminster with its fine golden sands.
  • Kynace Cove is a very picturesque beach. It is well worth the half mile descent to the beach as it really is a most attractive beach. At low tide, explore the fabulous caves with names such as The Drawing Room and The Parlour!
  • Daymer Bay is a wide sandy beach with good wind surfing. There are some lovely coastal walks in this area.
  • Constantine Bay is a good surf beach. With its wide crescent of golden sand backed by masses of low dunes, this is a most pleasant place to spend the day.

For true fairy tale romance, visit Tintagel castle. The windswept rock is a place of magic and myth, enchanting visitors as it brings the legend of King Arthur to life. Along with the magic, this area is also rich in flora and fauna with sea birds wheedling overhead and lizards scuttling around underfoot. It is also a breeding ground for butterflies.

The Lost Gardens of Helligan are one of the most popular botanical sites in the UK. The gardens abound with fabulous plants such as camellias and colossal rhododendrons. ‘The Jungle’ has sub-tropical tree ferns and the only pineapple pit in Europe can be found here.

Some other places of interest could include:

  • Visit the Charlestown Shipwreck & Heritage Centre and see artefacts from over 150 shipwrecks.
  • Pendennis Castle offers the chance to see a Tudor gun deck in action.
  • Experience the sights and sounds of battle in the interactive exhibition at the Royal Artillery Barracks.
  • Enjoy a very atmospheric mine tour of the 18th century Cornish tin mines at Poldark Mine.
