Devon is awash with wonderfully beautiful and interesting places to visit. A very few of these places could include:

  • The magnificent historical gardens of Bicton Park with its 60 acres of beautiful gardens. This is a great place for children where they can see the little shell houses, discover the secret garden, get lost in the Bigfoot maze and just run around the beautiful gardens.
  • As well as the natural beauty of Dartmoor National Park, you may like to visit Dartmouth Castle with its magnificent battlements. The castle stands guard on the Dart estuary in s superb waterside location.
  • Canonteign Falls is located in the beautiful Teign Valley and is comprised of 80 acres of ancient woodland and open fields which are covered in wild flowers. It has three different walks where you can pass by its lakes and old oaks.
  • Visit the Palaeolithic cave system at Kent’s Cavern. See the remains of the great cave bear along with earliest evidence of Stone Age tool making in Britain.
  • Take the Seaton Tramway through East Devon’s Axe Valley. Take this heritage tram from Seaton through two nature reserves, ending in Colyton.
  • Visit Buckfast Abbey and stroll around the beautiful gardens and perhaps sample their famous tonic wine.

For those looking for the seaside, look no further than Clovelly. This beautiful village with its cobbled streets and flower bedecked cottages leads down a 400 foot cliff to the sea. A maze of lanes houses delightful cottages, small chapels and pretty gardens. Pop into one of Clovelly’s two Inns and enjoy some of the local food and drink. Or discover Blackpool Sands which is set in a beautiful sheltered bay. Hire a kayak and view this delightful area from the sea-side.

Spend an afternoon in ‘Living Coasts’ which is home to a range of coastal creatures such as penguins, seals and puffins. After visiting the marine life, why not indulge in a real Devon cream tea in the water side café and enjoy the fabulous views over Tor Bay.
