These self catering holiday homes in Bantry Bay are in the little village of Ballylickey, situated mid way between Bantry Town and Glengarriff over looking the bay.

Ballylickey is 5 minutes from Bantry Town at the head ofBantry Bay which is the principal town on this part of the West Cork coast. This historic town was the landing point for two French invasions, one during the 17th and another during the 18th century which is commemorated in the French Armada Centre in the grounds of Bantry House.

The scenery in this part of West Cork is truly spectacular with a rugged coast line and mountains and forests inland. The Caha Mountains and Glengarriff Nature Reserve have a wide variety of marked walks and trails of varying levels of difficulty and length.
Warmed by the Atlantic Gulf Stream, the area enjoys a unique climate and is home to tropical plants and lush vegetation. This can be seen at the nearby Glengarriff Bamboo Park which has thirty different varieties of Bamboo and numerous other tropical plants. Another example of this is the garden island Garnish Island, or Ilnacullin. Just off the coast at Glengarriff, it is internationally renowned for its wide selection of plants and Italian Gardens. The island is accessible by ferry from Glengarriff Harbour from the 1st March to the 31st October and is closed to the public for the winter months. The waters surrounding the island are rich in wildlife and seals can frequently be seen from both the island and harbour.

This self catering accommodation in Ballylickey is less than 2 hours from Cork City and only an hour from Killarney and the ideal base from which to explore West Cork and neighbouring Kerry.
