This extremely picturesque village is situated on an inlet of the West Cork coastline 7Km from Rosscarberry and 3Km from the quaint fishing village of Union Hall which has a convenience store and post office.
Angling and deep sea fishing are extremely popular here, boat hire and organised trips to some of the local islands are available during the summer months from Union Hall.
The waters of this part of Cork’s coastline are home to large colonies of seals, dolphins and whales and the area was declared a whale & dolphin sanctuary in the 1990’s. They can often be seen either from boats (offering day trips to well known sites) or occasionally from the coast.
The area around Glandore has a number of ruins and sites of historical interest such as St. Brigid’s Well, St. Facthna’s Church, the ruins of Coppinger’s Court – a 17th century fortified house and the Drombeg Stone Circle which is approx. 6,000 years old and comprises of seventeen standing stones.
