The town also has its own small theatre –Tinteán Theatre Arts & Cultural Centre which is home to the National Traditional Theatre of Ireland. Collin’s Bath House is located on Ladies Strand and offers traditional seaweed baths which act as a natural antiseptic, whilst moisturizing your skin, leaving it tingling and refreshed.
Ballybunion has long been a favourite seaside holiday destination for both Irish families and overseas visitors alike. Its long, sandy, beach is ideal for swimming and paddling and there is plenty to keep children of all ages amused including a public playground, seaside amusements, and Ballybunion Leisure Centre which has three indoor swimming pools (an adults 17m pool and two smaller separate ones for children and toddlers), Jacuzzi, sauna, gym, treatment rooms, a jogging track and a café.
The coastline around Ballybunion is particularly picturesque and there is a good choice of coastal and cliff top marked walks and cycle trails. Other outdoor activities on offer locally include fishing, sea kayaking, sailing and surfing. Ballybunion Surf School operates from Ballybunion beach and offers lessons for surfers of all levels as well as equipment hire. Tralee Bay Sailing School is just 40 minutes away of offers a variety of water sports together with all necessary equipment.
Kerry is known for its many excellent golf courses and visitors to Ballybunion Golf Homes will be spoiled for choice between Ballybunion Golf Club (which has two championship courses, the older of the two being considered as being in the top ten courses in the world), Listowel Golf Club and Tralee Golf Club with Kenmare Golf Club and Ring of Kerry Golf Club a little further afield.
This self catering accommodation in Ballybunion is a great base from which to explore northern Kerry with southern Clare easily accessible by car ferry from Tarbert just 40 minutes away. Ballybunion is only 14Km from Listowel and a good base during the Listowel Races each September.
