Kenmare is situated between two of the most scenic touring routes in Europe, the
Ring of Kerry and the
Ring of Beara. It is an ideal destination for walkers and cyclist with plenty of marked walks and trails and bicycle hire available locally.
The area is popular with fishermen with charters available at
Kenmare Harbour and lots of great fishing spots along the lakes in the
Caha Mountains and the
Black Valley. Other outdoor activities available in the area include horse riding, waterskiing, kayaking, sailing, quad biking, pitch and putt and golf. There is a wide selection of golf courses locally such as
Kenmare Golf Club, the
Ring of Kerry Golf & Country Club and
Parknasilla Golf Club with the championship courses at
Waterville and
Killarney within easy reach.
Kenmare is a designated
Heritage Town and there a number of historical places of interest but in the town and the surrounding area.

Muckross House & Gardens, the monastic settlement on
Skellig Rock and
Dereen Gardens are ideal for day trips.
