Mayo has a rugged coastline and mountainous countryside inland. The Partry Mountains, Nephin Beg Mountains and of course Croagh Patrick (where once a year pilgrims climb to the top of the mountain to celebrate mass in honour of St. Patrick) offer some fantastic hikes and climbs of varying difficulty.

This part of the west coast has ten Blue Flag Beaches including Golden Strand, Carramore, Clew Bay Beach and Old Head. Mount Falcon Lake which is well stocked with rainbow trout stocked lake and of course there is sea angling off Clew Bay, Killala Bay and Belmullet.
