These spacious, wooden clad
self catering holiday homes are situated on the edge of the
Ballyhoura Forest in the village of
Ballyorgan and are literally on the
Ballyhoura Mountain Biking Trial. This trail comprises of a number of interconnected ‘loops’ which are suitable for all levels of ability. For complete beginners, the near by
Kilfinane Outdoor Education Centre offers MTB Skill lessons in addition to a wide variety of other outdoor activities.
The
Ballyhoura Food Fair takes place in Kilmallock on each Bank Holiday Monday from May to August and features a wonderful selection of local, artisan food.
The
Ballyhoura Forest and mountains are extremely picturesque and an ideal destination for nature lovers and walkers while children of all ages will enjoy the on site adventure play area!
Ballyhoura Forest Homes also offers a self contained meeting room on site which has a wooden floor, measuring 25.5’ x 15.5’, toilets and tea/coffee making facilities. It is available to groups staying in the properties at an extra charge on enquiry and is ideal for workshops and retreats.
There is a strong equine tradition in
Ballyhoura with a local hunt and regular point to point meets from December to May. There are a number of
local equestrian centres that cater for riders of all levels of ability and offer treks through the area’s stunning countryside. There are a number of racecourses within easy reach such as
Limerick,
Tipperary,
Thurles,
Clonmel and
Cork Racecourse.
For those looking for a more relaxing activity, the area has a number of excellent golf courses, such as
Charleville Golf Club,
Limerick Golf Club,
Mitchelstown Golf Club and
Doneraile Golf Club. The is also excellent angling on offer in the many local rivers which include the
Funcheon,
Awbeg and
Mulcair to name but a few.
