    This spacious holiday apartment is located in the heart of Leenane village in County Galway. From Killary Harbour Views you will be treated to wonderful views over Killary Harbour and the dramatic mountains of Mweelrea in County Mayo. Leenane is a pretty village on the Mayo-Galway border, nestled beneath the Maamtrasna and Maamturk mountains.

    Killary Harbour Views Holiday Apartment is an ideal base for exploring. Go hill walking, explore Connemara National Park or partake in many of the outdoor activities this beautiful area in Galway has to offer. There are lots of sporting events and attractions available locally in the pretty village of Leenane and beyond.

    Killary Harbour Views is a spacious and fully equipped holiday apartment providing everything you need for a comfortable self-catering holiday in Connemara.

    Access the holiday apartment via Leenane main street by means of a concrete staircase which has 14 steps. This holiday apartment is situated over Blackberry Restaurant, a well-known restaurant serving lunch and evening meals.

    Enter into the holiday apartment via the large and bright living room. This stylish space is well furnished and has an open fireplace with multi-channel TV. The bright sitting room provides wonderful views of Leenane village and Killary Fjord.

    The open plan kitchen and dining room is modern and well equipped. From the dining room table, the views continue over Killary Harbour and this pretty waterside village in County Galway.

    This self-catering apartment has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 5 guests comfortably:

    • Double en-suite bedroom, sleeping 2 – located on the upper floor
    • Single bed, sleeping 1
    • Double bed, sleeping 2

    From this unique holiday apartment and the large bedroom on the upper floor, you and your guests will love the breath-taking views overlooking Killary Fjord. The main bathroom has WC, sink and shower.

    There is an outdoor seating area where you can enjoy alfresco dining and outstanding views.

    Towels and linens are included. Travel cot and high chair is available by request. Electricity and heating are included in the rate.
    There are no pets allowed at this property and this is a is strictly no smoking holiday apartment.

    Free parking is available in the public car park opposite the apartment.

    Local Area – Leenane Village

    The pretty seaside village of Leenane has a variety of places to eat and drink with some of the finest seafood in Ireland available. From the world renowned Killary mussels to beautiful plump oysters you will be spoil for choice. Try the seasonal seafood such as clams, razor clams, crab and of course lobster which can be found on many of the local menus. The village also boasts several suppliers of world class and organic Connemara lamb.

    A great insight into the importance of the sheep and wool industry can be gained at the Sheep and Wool Museum in the village. Although this traditional industry still continues today, it has been replaced to a large extent economically by aquaculture and tourism.

    There are a number of local grocery shops and no trip to Leenane would be complete without a visit to one or two of the local bars such as Gaynors Bar known as The Field Bar, Hamilton's which has a bar, grocery, petrol station and Carraig Bar.

    The village featured in the well-known movie, The Field”, an Irish drama film set in the early 1930s. The film was written and directed by Jim Sheridan and starring Richard Harris, John Hurt, Sean Bean, Brenda Fricker and Tom Berenger. It was adapted from John B. Keane's 1965 play of the same name.

    The picturesque waterfall of Aasleagh Falls is located 1.5 km away from our modern seaside holiday apartment in Leenane, a must see on your next self-catering holiday in Connemara. Popular for salmon fishing and there is a pathway which visitors can walk to view the waterfall.

    Killary Harbour Views is an ideal base for a fishing holiday in Ireland as fishing is one of the many tourist attractions in the region. There are a number of significant salmon fisheries including the River Erriff, Delphi Fishery and Kylemore Fishery, as well as deep sea angling charter trips.

    Leenane Village on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way

    Leenane village is nestled on the Wild Atlantic Way and offers panoramic views of Killary Harbour over both of the sides, south towards Connemara and North towards Mayo. The harbour is one of the most breath-taking points on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.

    Things to See and Do in Galway

    Further afield, are the vibrant and popular towns of Westport and Clifden, both a 20-minute drive away and Galway City is a 40-minute drive.

    Walking, hiking, trekking or hill walking around Leenane ensures some of the most stunning mountains and coastal walks that one could possibly hope to experience In Ireland. Leenane Mountain Walking Festival takes place annually in May with walks designed for all levels of fitness and ability.

    Leenane is centrally located to a number of championship golf courses which include Connemara Golf Links, Westport Golf Club, Oughterard Parklands Golf Course and Ballinrobe Golf Club.

    Kylemore Abbey is another top tourist attraction in Connemara County Galway and well worth a visit on your next self-catering holiday in County Galway.
    Connemara National Park which opened to the public in 1980 is 22km from this self-catering holiday apartment in Leenane. Connemara National Park one of six national parks in Ireland and one of the top tourist attractions in Galway.

    Connemara’s rugged coastline boasts some of Ireland’s finest beaches, with stretches of pure white sands and turquoise waters. You will be spoilt for choice with the selection of sandy dotted along the coast on Galway’s Wild Atlantic Way.
