There is also a music house located in in Tully village called, Teach Ceoil. It has been the home of social and cultural life in north west Connemara since it first opened its doors in 1977. A centre for Irish culture, traditional music plus song and dance. It has hosted hundreds of local, national and international performers over the years and launched the careers of many musicians.
In Tullycross village you will find traditional thatched cottages giving an old-world feeling. The two pubs are extremely popular with tourists and offer traditional Irish music and contemporary music too. Every Wednesday during the summer months in Paddy Coyne’s Pub they hold an “Irish Night”. Another feature of Tullycross village is the Ogham Stone, the ancient script found on the stone spells out the name of the townland, Gurteenachough, meaning little garden of stones.
The Connemara Mussel Festival is held at Tullycross every year on the May Bank Holiday weekend. A weekend full of activities, music and of course mussels, providing a memorable family day out.
