Bunowen Holiday Cottage is a traditional holiday cottage located close to Ballyconneely Village. Recently renovated to a new and modern style while still attaining its cottage feel. There is a working farm adjacent to the property, located in a quiet and tranquil area of Connemara.

This holiday cottage offers wonderful countryside views and is just a short stroll to the nearby sea shore at Bunowen. There are many wonderful walks in the surrounding area including Dunlaughan, Aillebrack and Bunowen, all offering wonderful sea and beach views.

Doon Hill and the ruins of the Pirate Queen Grainne Mhaoil’s castle are close by as is the Connemara Golf Club, Connemara Smokehouse, and the local surfing beach at False Bay.

Bunowen Holiday Cottage – Sleeps 6

You enter the cottage through a porch fitted with antique blue floor tiles. Continue into the cottage sitting room with stove, comfy couches, old dresser full of interesting glasses and tea china. The kitchen which has kept its country feel is located off the sitting room. It is well equipped with all essentials for a comfortable self-catering holiday in Galway.

The main bathroom has a bath with separate shower cubicle.

IMPORTANT NOTES

1. Heating and Electricity:
This is an extra charge which is mostly payable to the Property Manager/Owner. In some cases, energy is charged at a fixed daily rate or a rate per unit on the units consumed or you are required to top up a Pre-Paid Meter while in others, energy charges are included in the rate you have paid. We advise you to check with the local Owner/ Property Manager prior to arrival how this is calculated or prior to making the booking.

2. Security Deposit:
A minimum refundable security deposit of €200 (per property) must be paid prior to check-in to your holiday home to the local Property Manager/ Owner. This is either taken over the phone by pre-authorising your credit card when you call the Property Manager to arrange your arrival time 48 hours in advance of arrival or at others it is taken on arrival. In some locations and at certain times of year this can increase to €500 per property.

Electricity and heating are included from May 31st until September 1st and is charged on usage on departure from September 1st until May 31st.

Please note there is a working farm adjacent to the property and the owner may occasionally share the driveway in order to get to the farm.

Local Area

Ballyconneely Village is just 3km away and offers two grocery stores, a bar and restaurant, a community centre and children’s playground. Roundstone Village and Clifden Town are also just a short drive away. Local activities include fishing, pony trekking, golf, coastal walks, surfing, boat trips and much more.

The Connemara Championship Golf Links is just 17.5km from the holiday cottage and is one of the most picturesque golf courses in Ireland. It is nestled in between the magnificent 12 Bens Mountain Range and the Atlantic Ocean. The club house offers fantastic facilities. Making it the perfect place to have a bite to eat in their restaurant and relax after a round of golf.

Things to See and Do in Connemara

Clifden is a vibrant town located just 11km away from Bunowen Holiday Cottage. Clifden town has a selection of excellent restaurants, cafes, cosy pubs playing traditional music and a variety of grocery shops.

There are a number of festivals in Connemara during the year, including the Arts Festival in September, Clifden Traditional Music Festival and the popular Connemara Pony Show held every year on the third Thursday in August.

Kylemore Abbey is another top tourist attraction in Connemara County Galway and well worth a visit on your next self-catering holiday in County Galway.

Connemara National Park which opened to the public in 1980 is 25km away from this self-catering holiday cottage in Ballyconneely. Connemara National Park is one of six national parks in Ireland and one of the top tourist attractions in Galway.

Connemara’s rugged coastline boasts some of Ireland’s finest beaches, with stretches of pure white sands and turquoise waters. You will be spoilt for choice with the selection of sandy dotted along the coast on Galway’s Wild Atlantic Way.
