This unique holiday retreat is a 25-minute walk or 8-minute cycle from Claddaghduff village on the mainland. When the tide is out you can reach the mainland by foot or drive across beautiful Omey Strand.

Set in a peaceful location this unique holiday cottage is a 10-minute walk from Omey Island South Beach and a 5-minute walk from Omey Island Bay Beach. Omey Island is visible from the village of Claddaghduff and the beach that leads to the island, Omey Strand is undoubtedly one of best beaches in Connemara. Dog lovers will love this island location with an array of coastal walks in the immediate area which you can explore in harmony with your beloved pet.

Enjoy seaside views from almost every room in this unique and picture-perfect holiday cottage. The rural retreat is spread over one floor. The large open plan kitchen and dining area includes a kitchen island with views of the sea and mainland in the distance. The kitchen is well equipped providing all the essentials you need for a comfortable self-catering holiday in Galway. The kitchen has an electric oven, grill, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, electric kettle, toaster, and coffee maker. The large utility room has a washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities.

One of the living rooms boasts a stone fireplace with wood burner stove, comfortable sofas, and flat screen TV. Sit back and relax in the second living room and enjoy the spectacular views. The bright living rooms boast unrivalled views of the Atlantic Ocean, Omey Island and the Connemara countryside. Relax beside the wood burning stove and delight in the endless views.

About Omey Island and Claddaghduff

Claddaghduff village is home to Sweeney's Strand Bar which is the local shop and post office. Sweeney's Strand Bar serves freshly caught seafood dishes, and is quite famous for mackerel when in season. Claddaghduff is home to a lively local community and a vary of activities take place on the island such as tag rugby tournaments, triathlons and community games during the summer months.

Omey Strand is extremely popular for pony trekking, walking and cycling. Equine enthusiasts love a visit to Omey either for the thrilling spectacle of the Omey races which takes place mid-summer or for the Claddaghduff Pony Show. One of the top attractions of this beautiful place is the white sandy beaches, blue seas and the wildlife. The beauty and isolation of Connemara and Omey Island has over time inspired so many artists and writers.

Connemara National Park and Kylemore Abbey are within 10 miles of this fantastic island holiday home. Nearby the vibrant town of Clifden has lots to offer holidaymakers to this area with a variety of craft shops, restaurants, cosy traditional pubs and cafes. Guests enjoy hill walking, horse riding, kayaking, cycling, fishing and ocean swimming. For an unforgettable experience take a boat trip to Inisturk and Inishbofin Islands.

Pet - Friendly Holiday Cottage on Omey Island

Omey Island Holiday Cottage accepts 1 pet on request. Please reserve at the time of booking via our call centre +353 (0)1 201 8440, as your dog will not be accepted without prior confirmation as charge many apply. Please note your pet must remain in the utility room and sleep in its own bed/crate. The pet is not allowed in bedrooms, on furniture, or on wooden floors. Please pet must be kept under the owners’ control, as the lands surrounding the property are farmlands and contain livestock.

Omey Island is accessible by driving across Omey Strand at low tide. The Onsite Manager will advise on the best times to cross to and from to the island.

IMPORTANT NOTES

1. Heating and Electricity:
This is an extra charge which is mostly payable to the Property Manager/Owner. In some cases, energy is charged at a fixed daily rate or a rate per unit on the units consumed or you are required to top up a Pre-Paid Meter while in others, energy charges are included in the rate you have paid. We advise you to check with the local Owner/ Property Manager prior to arrival how this is calculated or prior to making the booking.

2. Security Deposit:
A minimum refundable security deposit of €200 (per property) must be paid prior to check-in to your holiday home to the local Property Manager/ Owner. This is either taken over the phone by pre-authorising your credit card when you call the Property Manager to arrange your arrival time 48 hours in advance of arrival or at others it is taken on arrival. In some locations and at certain times of year this can increase to €500 per property.
