This charming holiday cottage situated on the outskirts of Leenane is the perfect holiday base for a small family holiday or couples retreat in County Galway. Leenane is a picturesque village on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, close to Connemara’s National Park. Ashmore Cottage is a 5-minute walk from the heart of Leenane, along a scenic path overlooking Killary Fjord, one of three beautiful fjords in Ireland
Leenane is a pretty village on the Mayo-Galway border that boasts the finest scenery in all of Connemara with views of stunning mountain ranges, Maamtrasna and Maamturk. Ashmore Cottage is a perfect holiday retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The main family bathroom has a step-in shower, WC and sink.
This beautiful cottage has a sun-porch with furniture making it a nice place to relax regardless of the weather and the cottage also has outdoor seating perfect for alfresco dining.
Electricity and heating are charged on usage on departure by the On-site Manager. Pay as you go Wi-Fi is available in this self catering holiday cottage.
There are no pets allowed at this property and this is a strictly no smoking holiday cottage.
Leenane village is known for featuring in the famous movie, The Field”, an Irish drama film set in the early 1930s. The film was written and directed by Jim Sheridan and starring Richard Harris, John Hurt, Sean Bean, Brenda Fricker and Tom Berenger. It was adapted from John B. Keane's 1965 play of the same name.
There are a number of local grocery shops and no trip to Leenane would be complete without a visit to one or two of the local bars such as Gaynors Bar an 8-minute walk from this holiday cottage. This pub is known as The Field Bar and the unique bar of Hamilton's is a 7 minute a walk which as a bar, grocery and petrol station and Carraig Bar.
From this holiday cottage you will find a variety of places to eat and drink locally, with some of the finest seafood in Ireland available on the menu. From the world renowned Killary mussels to beautiful plump oysters you will be spoilt for choice. Try the seasonal seafood such as clams, razor clams, crab and of course lobster which can be found on many of the local menus. The village also boasts several suppliers of world class and organic Connemara lamb.
Leenane offers a variety of relaxing spa centres and seaweed baths, which will be sure to have you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated after your visit. Only 250m away from Ashmore Cottage is Connemara Seaweed Baths which are open from April and offer the only salt water seaweed baths in the West of Ireland. Saltwater seaweed baths provide a natural cure for any skin ailments as well as relaxing tired and aching muscles, the perfect treat on your next self-catering holiday in Ireland.
Hill walking and trail running is popular around the hills and mountains surrounding Leenane. You will encounter some of the most stunning mountains and coastal trails that one could possibly hope to experience In Ireland.
