About Aughrim

Aughrim is a pretty village situated in South Wicklow in rolling fertile valleys yet just 30km from the white golden sandy beaches of the East Coast. It has many attractive buildings such as the Market House and the Old Mill, built of Wicklow Granite.

There are some great local pubs, restaurants, and village shops, and it has been the winner of the Tidy Towns competition, and of Ireland’s Best Kept Small Town.

Aughrim is a great destination for walkers of all abilities. You are just 5km from the Wicklow Way route and there are lovely riverside walks and picnic areas in the village. There is a bowling green and anglers enjoy the 4-acre lake within an 8-acre riverside park with panoramic views overlooking the surrounding Wicklow hills stocked with game fish, which is suitable for the disabled with full wheelchair access. Local producers sell their goods at the weekend Town and Country market.

The village of Aughrim is just 30km from the wonderful white dunes at Brittas Bay beach, which means you can enjoy all the delights of a rural holiday yet with the miles of coastline and beaches within easy driving range. The villages of Rathdrum, Tinahely, Laragh and the Monastic Site at Glendalough are all within 25km of the holiday homes in Aughrim.
