Self Catering Holiday Homes in Blessington, Co. Wicklow

Blessington is the largest town in West Wicklow, on the shores of Blessington Lakes, and is a lovely market town with good shopping, cafes and pubs. It is steeped in history and there are many local historical attractions such as St. Mark’s Cross, Seefin Passage Graves, and Three Castles at Oldcourt. There are some very attractive local villages to visit, and walks and trails around the lakes at Blessington.

The 18th century Russborough House and Parklands is 2km from Blessington and has something for everyone. Visitors can enjoy guided tours of this exquisite Palladian mansion with its collections of paintings, antique furniture, silver, porcelain and tapestries. Don’t miss the recently opened interactive and self-guided exhibition of film and photographs taken by Sir Alfred Beit himself on his world tours of the 1920s and 1930s. For families, Russborough has a 20,000 sq. ft. head high Maze, a lovely fairy trail for youngsters and a playground for children up to 12 years of age. June Blake’s gardens and Huntingbrook Gardens are always well worth a visit 5km from Blessington. The drive from Blessington over the Sally Gap and Wicklow’s National park to Roundwood, brings you through some of the most breath taking scenery in Wicklow.

Blessington’s picturesque location in the heart of Wicklow yet 36km from Dublin city makes this an ideal destination for visitors to Ireland, who are looking for a rural destination yet with city attractions within easy driving distance. Our holiday homes at Avon Rí is a great self- catering accommodation option all year round.
