Enfield or Innfield is a town in south County Meath, situated between Kilcock and Kinnegad, very close to the border with County Kildare. The town is on the Dublin-Sligo railway line. It is located on the R148 regional road, formerly the N4 national primary road connecting Dublin to Connacht.
Enfield is centrally located between the Royal County of Meath, seat of High Kings, and County Kildare, the home of the Irish Kings of Leinster. As such there are a wealth of stories and legends on the doorstep from where Ireland's rich cultural past can be explored.
Local attractions include Wallaby Woods, a family run Open Farm set in 16 acres of woodland incorporating a number of water features. With 35 species to see and lots of activities on offer, it is a wonderful experience for all ages.
At Donadea Forest Park there are many historical features including the remains of the castle, walled gardens, church, tower, ice house, boat house and Lime Tree Avenue. There is also a 2.3-hectare lake with ducks and other birds and a wonderful display of water-lilies in the summer. Another favourite is the Irish National Stud and Japanese Gardens which continues to amaze the visitors since their opening and Tayto Park.
Enfield is also close the Dublin with all its amenities and attractions. Visit Dublin Zoo one of the oldest zoos in the world or National Aquatics Centre, one of the most innovative water parks in Europe. Lasting approximately 90 minutes, the Sky Line tour at Croke Park features a specially- designed walkway suspended above the Croke Park pitch, offering a view of Ireland’s most famous arena from a completely different angle.
