Fota is a land bridged island in Cork Harbour 25 km from the city of Cork. It is most famous for its Wildlife Park and Fota House and Gardens. The Fota Wildlife Park is a great day out and its primary aim is the preservation of global wildlife with breeding programmes of endangered species for many zoos worldwide. There are many attractions for the children, with picnic and restaurant facilities. Fota house and Gardens are also well worth a visit for the tropical and rare plants in the arboretum.

The wonderful harbour town of Cobh, is just 5km from Fota and has many historical places of interest to visit. This was the last port of call for the ill-fated Titanic. Cork city 25km away has the English Market for foodies, great restaurants and pubs, theatres, cinemas and shopping.
