Self Catering Holiday Homes & Cottages in Tipperary
County Tipperary is one of Ireland’s best kept secrets, probably because it is an inland county. It is known as the Golden Vale of Ireland, because of its dairy farming on the rich pasturelands. It nestles between Ireland’s highest inland mountain range – the Galtee Mountains and the thickly forested Slievenamuck Ridge. The Ballyhoura Mountains offer some of the best marked walk ways and cycle trails of varying difficulty, with stunning, panoramic views, many of which lead to the five picturesque corrie lakes high up in the Galtees. Less than 15 minutes’ drive from Tipperary Town which is a designated Heritage town, is the Glen of Aherlow, bounded by the rural villages of Bansha and Galbally, both of which have some lovely traditional pubs which give a real taste of friendly, rural Ireland. There are a number of prehistoric and early Christian sites throughout the glen. One of the best ways to explore the mountains is on horseback, with treks available from local stables throughout the county. Our self catering holiday homes in Tipperary are ideally located for those wanting to tour the surrounding county and also the neighbouring counties of Waterford, Cork, Limerick and Kilkenny. Although the county was made famous by the Irish folk song 'Its a Long Way to Tipperary' these holiday homes are only an hour and 15 minutes from Waterford City and two and a half hours from Dublin.
