County Wicklow is often referred to as the Garden of Ireland because of its particularly lush and fertile pasturelands. Less than an hour’s drive from Dublin City, it has a wonderfully diverse landscape from the wild Wicklow Mountains to forested glens, lakes, rivers and sandy beaches along the coast.  

Its namesake town of Wicklow is a thriving town with great visitor attractions, cafes, shops and restaurants. 

The Wicklow Way is a unique walking trail through the Wicklow hills, where visitors can experience the beauty of the mountains, lakes and forests. Mountain bike trails are popular and no matter where you are in Wicklow, you will never be far from a riding stables offering tuition and trekking. 

Golfers are spoilt for choice with a range of links and courses throughout the county which include then Woodbrook Golf Club, Druids Glen Golf Course which includes Druids Glen and Druids Heath, The European Club and Powerscourt Golf Club. 

Beaches such as Brittas Bay are long, with big high sandy dunes and clear waters. Brittas Bay has a 5 km stretch of powdery sand and extensive sand dunes and is designated as a proposed Special Area of Conservation (SAC). The beach is life guarded throughout the bathing season and has Blue Flag status.  

Wicklow is rich in heritage and cultural sites, offering the visitor everything from country estates and stately gardens. Powerscourt House & Gardens, Avondale House, the monastic site at Glendalough and Wicklow Mountains National Park are a must see.
