About Leitrim

Known as Lovely Leitrim, this county is known for its magical haunting beauty. It is situated in the north of the midlands and lakelands and has the smallest population of any county in Ireland.

In 1994, the 19th-century Ballyconnell–Ballinamore Canal was reopened as the Shannon-Erne Waterway joining Ireland’s two main river systems, the Shannon and the Erne, to create an amazing network of rivers and lakes. It runs into County Fermanagh symbolically linking north and south of the country. So, it is no surprise to know that Leitrim is best explored either from the water or along the banks of these rivers. There are many beautiful little harbours and marinas including Dromod and Leitrim Quay where our holiday homes provide a real opportunity to soak up the magical countryside.

Our self catering holiday homes in Leitrim are within easy reach of Carrick-on-Shannon, the county’s main town which boasts a wide variety of craft shops, a leisure centre, good restaurants, traditional pubs and great nightlife. It has a number of modern Marinas so is popular for cruising holidays and boat trips

The Leitrim Way and parts of the North West cycling way pass through this scenic county meandering through the dense forests where you will be delighted by the flora and fauna and quiet solitude of the countryside.
