Self Catering Holiday Homes in Castletownbere, Co. Cork
Castletownbere is a small but vibrant town nestled at the heart of the beautiful Beara Peninsula, one of Ireland’s hidden gems. The town sits between the Caha and Slieve Miskish mountains and overlooks the spectacular Berehaven Harbour. Situated on the Wild Atlantic Way, and right on the doorstep is the Beara Way, a walking route around the Beara Peninsula that takes in many historical and archaeological sites.
Castletownbere is primarily a fishing town, so there are plenty of pubs serving freshly caught seafood. No visit would be complete without a pint of Guinness in McCarthy’s bar, immortalised in the book of the same name. The town is home to a multitude of artists, writers, artisan food producers, and craft makers. Pottery, cheeses and wood crafts can all be sampled and purchased at the regular markets held every Thursday in the summer months. The choice of holiday homes at Castletownbere are perfect as a base for really getting to know this stunning area.
