About Dublin

County Dublin is on the east of Ireland bordered by the coastline of the Irish Sea, the Wicklow Mountains and lush farms and valleys in Kildare and Meath. It is a varied county with Ireland’s capital at its heart.

Dublin, the capital of Ireland, offers a wide range of activities for a memorable self-catering holiday. Explore the historic Trinity College and view the ancient Book of Kells. Enjoy the panoramic views of Dublin city from the Gravity Bar in the Guinness Storehouse or stroll through the vibrant Temple Bar, known for its pubs, vintage clothes shops, restaurants, and cultural events.

For history enthusiasts take a trip to St. Patrick’s Cathedral to admire the architecture or learn about Ireland’s struggles for independence at Kilmainham Gaol. Learn about Dublin’s Vikings and medieval history at Dublinia, an interactive museum located beside the river Liffey

One of the main attractions for visitors is the fact that you can enjoy the bustling cosmopolitan city of Dublin, with its culture, shopping, and attractions, yet be within an hour’s drive of some of the major tourist attractions of the bordering counties.

The DART line (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) services the towns and coastal villages north and south of the county, making beach walks, local fish restaurants, and country rambles accessible within a short time.

The wonderful Wicklow Way starts in County Dublin, heading into the Wicklow Mountains, and ends in County Carlow. There are wonderful visitor attractions, parks, and cycleways to explore.
