5 Favourite Halloween Games
5 Favourite Halloween Games
Halloween may be a little different this year but that’s not going to stop us having a little fun. From the comfort of your own home you can enjoy our favourite Halloween games. Here are our favourite 5 Halloween games which will hopefully bring a little fun and excitement into your home this year.
Apple Bobbing or Bobbing for Apples
Apple bobbing, also known as bobbing for apples, is a game often played at Halloween. Some people claim that the Halloween custom of bobbing for apples dates back to pre-Christian Ireland and the pagan festival of Samhain.
Fill a tub or a large basin with water and place some apples in the water. Because apples are less dense than water, they will float at the surface. Players then try to catch an apple by only using their teeth, remember to keep your hands behind your back.
Halloween Mystery Game
One of our favourite Halloween games, what’s in the bowl?! Prepare a bowl or box filled with gross, slimy foods that could be interpreted as Halloween themed nasties. Each person has to put their hand in and guess what they’re feeling!
Here are some ideas of what you can put into your Halloween feel boxes:
Dried apricots – ears
Peeled grapes – eyeballs
Baby carrots – toes
Steamed cauliflower – brains
Popcorn kernels – teeth
Slimy spaghetti – guts
Dried pasta – bones
Cheese sticks – fingers
Raisins – warts or boogers
Peanut butter – ear wax
Sliced almonds – fingernails
Pickle or mushroom – nose
Yarn – monster hair
Wrap the Mummy
You will need a few rolls of toilet paper; the object of this game is to be the first team to wrap someone up like a Mummy.
Halloween Face Painting
Who doesn’t love getting their face painted? There are loads of cool free stencils available online for those of us with limited painting skills!
Chocolate Apples and Spooky Treats
‘Food is the ingredient that binds us together‘, so for some memorable Halloween fun bring the family together and make some spooky treats.
For the chocolate apples wash the apples and dry thoroughly, then insert a wooden skewer into each apple and set aside. Melt the chocolate in a separate bowl by placing the bowl over a pan of simmering water. Remove the bowl from the heat and dip one apple at a time into the melted chocolate. Dip the apples into toppings or sprinkles. Place on a parchment lined baking tray and refrigerate for 15 minutes. Decorate the sticks or skewers with ribbon.
Make decorative Halloween cupcakes or create cute spider biscuits, children will love getting creative and making spooky chocolate spiders or edible monsters this Halloween.
We hope our favourite Halloween games will help move this year’s ghostly celebrations up a level of spookiness from the comfort of your own home. We would love to know what you are doing to celebrate Halloween this year, find us on social media @tridentholidayhomes and let us know!
