One of my first stops in Dingle and My Boy Blue did not disappoint! The blue stripe against the grey wall on the outside along with the many McKenna's awards built up the anticipation to step inside. There was a nice mix of locals and tourists, a straightforward menu as well as some specials listed. The pastry case was decently stocked for a mid morning visit as well. The espresso was great and the matcha and toffee lattes were also made with care and tasted nice too! The baristas entertained some questions about their setup while they worked and accommodated a request for something else after I ordered as well, thank you!

Here are 10 unique facts about coffee and Irish coffee that celebrate both the drink and its history:
- Irish coffee was invented in the 1940s by Joe Sheridan, a chef at Foynes Port near Limerick. He created the drink to warm up weary American travelers. When asked if they were drinking Brazilian coffee, Sheridan famously replied, “No, that’s Irish coffee!”
- The original Irish coffee recipe** calls for hot coffee, Irish whiskey, sugar, and lightly whipped cream. The trick is to pour the cream over the back of a spoon so it floats on top of the coffee.
- San Francisco’s Buena Vista Café popularized Irish coffee in the U.S.** after travel writer Stanton Delaplane brought the recipe back from Ireland. The Buena Vista claims to have sold millions of Irish coffees since 1952.
- Irish coffee should never be stirred. The proper way to drink it is to sip the hot coffee through the cold cream, giving the drink its distinctive taste and texture.
