Ballybunion – County Kerry

Ballybunion, a lovely seaside village, situated on Co. Kerry’s north-west coast, has been a great favourite as a family holiday destination and for tourists from all over the world for decades. Enjoy Blue Flag beaches, seaweed baths, sandcastles, picnics, periwinkles, candy floss, and blue Atlantic waves with sea breezes full of salty air. Ballybunion has a good choice of restaurants, pubs, and shops (though opening times can vary according to season). It also has its own custom-built theatre – Tinteán Theatre Arts & Cultural Centre – which is home to the National Traditional Theatre of Ireland. 

There is a variety of local outdoor activities – there are several marked walks which vary in length and difficulty along the cliffs, cycling, fishing, sea kayaking, sailing, and surfing at Ballybunion Surf School. Ballybunion Leisure Centre has indoor pools for all ages and a leisure area, gym, and café. At Collin’s Bath House on Ladies Strand, you can enjoy a soak in a traditional seaweed bath, to refresh and invigorate! Or before you head for the bathhouse, why not enjoy a round of golf overlooking Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way? 

 Ballybunion Golf Club has two championship courses on a beautiful stretch of dunes overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the Old Course, and the Trent Jones Cashen Course. Listowel is just 14 km from Ballybunion making our self-catering holiday homes a good base for the Listowel Races or the International Writer’s Festival. The Tarbert – Killimer Ferry is just 25 km from Ballybunion and links County Kerry with County Clare across the Shannon Estuary.
