About Ballyvaughan
Ballyvaughan is a picturesque village located in County Clare. Located in the heart of the Burren on the Wild Atlantic Way, Ballyvaughan is an intimate little village.
Known for its stunning natural beauty it is a popular place to visit at any time of the year. There are interesting bars, restaurants, cafes and a lovely tea room, called the Tea & Garden Rooms.
The cosy open fires in many of the pubs are enticing on a winter’s day, and impromptu traditional music sessions happen at any time!
There are lovely craft shops and a vibrant farmers’ market is held every weekend, where you can buy local produce and crafts.
Enjoy guided walks through the mystical Burren landscape. Water sports and fishing are available from the pier and Black Head. Explore Bishop’s Quarter (6km) or go surfing at Fanore (13km). The perfect place to learn to surf is at the stunning Fanore Beach, with its open spaces, seclusion, and uncrowded waves.
Ballyvaughan is ideally located for anybody travelling through the area because of the well-known local tourist attractions, the Portal Dolmen and the Cliffs of Moher.
Take time out to explore the local Fanore to Ballyvaughan Trek. A fabulous walk that is mostly enjoyed off-road, taking you above the R477 on the old famine road around Blackhead.
Ballyvaughan is a popular destination for outdoor activities, such as hiking, cycling, swimming, or birdwatching. The area offers a peaceful atmosphere for visitors looking to enjoy the Irish countryside on the west coast of Ireland.
