About Beaufort
Beaufort is a small village in County Kerry, located approximately 10km from Killarney on the famous Ring of Kerry route. Set at the foot of the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks, Beaufort is best known as a gateway to some of Kerry’s most scenic landscapes, including Gap of Dunloe, Ireland’s highest mountain Carrauntoohil, and the Black Valley. The village sits along the banks of the River Laune and offers a peaceful base for exploring the outdoors, with hiking, cycling, fishing and sightseeing all nearby.
Beaufort is popular with walkers and nature lovers thanks to its location close to the Kerry Way walking route and the mountain trails of the Reeks. Visitors can explore the dramatic scenery of the Gap of Dunloe by foot, bicycle or traditional jaunting car, while nearby Killarney National Park offers lakes, woodland walks and historic attractions.
Despite its small size, Beaufort has a welcoming village atmosphere with local pubs, cafés and shops, while larger towns such as Killarney and Killorglin are within easy driving distance. The area is also home to historic sites including Dunloe Castle and ancient ogham stones, adding to the village’s strong connection to Kerry’s heritage and landscape.

"House was very clean, with two recently renovated bathrooms, both with electric showers and wall heaters. Beds were very comfortable. Wifi and a smart TV in the sitting room were brilliant for the showery days. The orientation of the house meant sunshine filled the kitchen and sitting room throughout the day, keeping it warm. There were heaters in the rooms, but we did not need to use them. Lovely walk up and down to the beach every day. Would happily stay here again!"
