About Dungarvan
The town of Dungarvan in Co.Waterford is centered on its harbour and the combination of it being a lively market town with a maritime ambiance gives it a unique personality. There are numerous sandy beaches nearby the largest of which is Clonea Beach which is 6k km from the town centre and is ideal for swimming. Dungarvan town has a fantastic choice of seafood restaurants, pubs, craft shops, and galleries.
There are a large variety of outdoor activities on offer in Dungarvan, deep sea angling boats are available for charter from the harbour and coarse fishing is available locally. There are three 18-hole golf courses in the area (including the Dungarvan Gold Coast and West Waterford Golf Clubs). For the family, pitch & putt is available in the town.
The nearby Knockmealdown Mountains, stunning coastline, and local rivers, provide a wonderful backdrop to many scenic drives and hikes. Dungarvan is located on the edge of Waterford’s Gaeltacht (Irish speaking) area. The Ring and Helvic Head has some stunning scenery and several quaint, very traditional Irish villages.
