About Lettermacaward
Lettermacaward is a Gaeltacht village located on the north west coast in the Rosses region of County Donegal. Donegal has a large Gaeltacht area where native Irish is still spoken, and renowned for its folklore and traditional music. The village, known locally as Leitir, is between the larger towns of Glenties and Dungloe.
Our seaside holiday accommodation is located 3km from Lettermacaward which has several amenities including a grocery shop, petrol station, Gweebarra Bar, and Elliot’s Traditional Irish Bar. At Elliot’s Traditional Irish Bar, you will experience a warm welcome with traditional Irish music playing every Friday night.
Located on part of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, Dooey Beach is a 9-minute drive from Lettermacaward. Popular activities at Dooey Beach include walking, swimming, kayaking, boating, windsurfing, and other land-based activities such as football, kite flying, and walking.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the majestic Truskla Mountain in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Lettermacaward is a truly unique holiday destination. "House was very clean, with two recently renovated bathrooms, both with electric showers and wall heaters. Beds were very comfortable. Wifi and a smart TV in the sitting room were brilliant for the showery days. The orientation of the house meant sunshine filled the kitchen and sitting room throughout the day, keeping it warm. There were heaters in the rooms, but we did not need to use them. Lovely walk up and down to the beach every day. Would happily stay here again!"
