About Roundstone

Roundstone is a seaside village on the west coast of Ireland, in the Connemara region of County Galway, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Described many times as a “botanist’s delight” where many rare wild flowers, are found. The town of Clifden is nearby to the north and the majestic mountain of Errisbeg, which rises to almost 1,000 feet makes a wonderful sculpted backdrop to Roundstone. The harbour village of Roundstone is an ideal base from which to explore the wonderful ice-age scoured and lake-strewn Roundstone Bog.

South of the village the crescent-shaped beaches of Gurteen and Dog’s Bay draw thousands each summer. There are several bars and restaurants in the area offering outdoor dining areas, so on a nice day you can enjoy some al fresco dining. Take a stroll through the town to discover some fantastic craft shops and cafés. Roundstone is also the birthplace and inspiration for many artists.

Roundstone Arts Week is held annually over 2 weekends in late June and early July. The festival provides a wide variety of events such as writer’s workshops, art exhibitions, traditional music sessions, drama, and activities for children. Whatever your reasons for visiting Roundstone, you will not be disappointed.
