About Teelin

Teelin is an Irish speaking village located in County Donegal’s southwest region. The spectacular Slieve League Cliffs are not far from the village, which is located in the northwest corner of Donegal Bay on the Wild Atlantic Way route. The area is well-known for scuba diving, fishing, and traditional music. It has a wonderful, extensive harbour with boat-launching facilities and safe anchoring at Teelin Pier.

Fabulous sightseeing excursions can be booked from nearby Teelin Pier. View the sea cliffs from the boat as they tower 600 metres above. Visitors are often joined by dolphins, whales, seals, and basking sharks a wonderful experience on your next self-catering holiday Donegal.

From Teelin you will be surrounded by the most spectacular scenery in western Europe. Drive along the Donegal coast, the longest coastline in Ireland at 772 miles, and enjoy breathtaking views along Donegal’s Wild Atlantic Way.

Visit Glencolmchille Folk Village, a cluster of small cottages, called a ‘clachan’ perched on a hillside overlooking the Glen Bay Beach in the Gaeltacht. Designed by the local people the Folk Village is one of Ireland’s best living history museums.

Another local attraction is Donegal’s spectacular Secret Waterfall, recently discovered and described as an archaeological goldmine with ancient fossils and a cave.

The local area is very popular with hill walkers, climbers, horse-riding, families, and outdoor enthusiasts. A wonderful base to explore Donegal’s Wild Atlantic Way or relax and recharge in your tranquil surroundings.
