From this unique holiday cottage, you can enjoy views of the Twelve Bens or Twelve Pins, a striking group of mountains. The tallest peak Benbaun is 730m and the smallest peak is Benglenisky at 516m, making An Caorán Carna a wonderful base for a hiking holiday.
Situated on Galway’s Wild Atlantic Way this picturesque cottage is surrounded by 8 acres of rewilded land, attracting an array of bird life, rare insects and butterflies such as the red listed Marsh Fritillary. The sandy beach at Moyrus with its warm turquoise waters is just a stones throw away, and the village of Carna is 3km away. Making this idyllically located cosy country cottage a perfect retreat, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The country style fitted kitchen is well equipped providing all you need for a comfortable self-catering holiday in Ireland. The open plan kitchen living and dining area is full of character with an original open fire and comfortable furnishings. The second living room is located on the first floor and has an open fire place, ample comfortable seating, satellite TV and wonderful sea views.
This coastal holiday cottage has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 6 guests comfortably:
- King-size en-suite bedroom, sleeping 2
- Double bedroom, sleeping 2
- Twin bedroom, sleeping 2
The main family bathroom is located on the ground floor has a bath with overhead shower, hand basin and toilet.
The large lawned gardens turns into wildflower meadow over summer. Garden furniture is provided for al fresco dining, relaxing, observing the birds and biodiversity or taking in the magnificent views in this secluded garden.
From this unique holiday cottage, you will be surrounded by incomparable scenery and an array of popular walks to explore. The trails surrounding this holiday home make it a perfect base for a walking holiday in Ireland.

Electricity and oil charged @ €10.00 per day off-peak season (September to May)
These above owed amounts will collect onsite upon departure.
In advance of an arrival the On-site Manager will arrange to contact the guest to collect a security deposit of €200 which is payable via paypal.
The sandy beach at Moyrus is just a short stroll away from An Caorán Carna, the shallow bay is popular for swimming and water sports. You might even catch a glimpse of the otter family that live there.
Connemara ponies will greet any passers-by who walk the 5km coastal trail loop to a secluded beach, with WW2 Eire sign and famine cottage ruins. The rugged beauty of Mweenish Island and its sandy coves can be accessed by a bridge from the south side of Carna.
Hikers and nature lovers should explore the Maumturk Mountains, the Twelve Bens Mountain Range and the stunningly beautiful Inagh Valley that separates them. Amongst the many other walking routes and trails in the area, the Diamond Hill trail in the National Park boasts stunning views, the Maumeen Mountain Pass is steeped in history, as is the Marconi Centre at Derrygimla where the first transatlantic telecommunications took place. For those seeking mountain activities at a faster pace, Derroura Mountain bike trail should cater for all levels of experience and fitness with its 16km of purpose built mountain runs.
Day trips to the beautiful Inishboffin Island and the Aran Islands are a must with ferries leaving daily from the local area.
Clifden is a vibrant seaside town located 40km away from An Caorán Carna and is packed with good restaurants, cosy cafes, lively trad bars and craft shops. There are numerous festivals throughout the year in Clifden, including the famous Connemara Pony Festival and the Arts Festival in September.
Galway city can be reached in just over an hour and is the cultural capital of the West of Ireland, right on Ireland’s picturesque Wild Atlantic Way. The pretty village of Carna is 3km away from your coastal holiday cottage where you will find a selection of shops, restaurants, pubs, a pharmacy, café, petrol station and hotel. The traditional pubs have many unplanned Irish music sessions in the summer months. Carna also has a Garda Síochána station, a health centre and an Irish Coastguard lifeboat.
