Dingle Family Holiday Guide: 4 days of adventure, food & fun.

One of the Trident Holiday Homes team members, Nicola, recently spent four days in Dingle, exploring the stunning landscapes of the Dingle Peninsula, enjoying great local food, and packing in plenty of family-friendly fun. From pier jumping and petting alpacas to discovering hidden lakes and chasing sea safaris, here’s how they made the most of their Dingle escape –  along with tips and highlights for anyone planning their trip.

Day 1 – Arrival in Dingle & Traditional Tunes

Our team member Nicola stayed at Dingle Harbour Cottages, a spacious and beautifully presented holiday home with spectacular views of Dingle Bay from the kitchen window. The care and attention that had gone into the house was immediately clear, making it the perfect base for the trip.

Dinner was booked at The Boatyard Restaurant — a wise move, as it tends to fill up fast. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Afterwards, they enjoyed live traditional Irish music at The Marina Inn, which regularly hosts sessions from 6.30pm to 8.30pm — ideal for an early night after a travel day.

Day 2 –  Slea Head Drive & Seaside Fun

Monday was dedicated to the famous Slea Head Drive, a route packed with incredible scenery and charming pit stops. First up was a small Alpaca Farm, where entry was just €2.50 and included a tub of food for the animals — lambs and alpacas being the stars of the show.

Next was a coffee break at Kruger’s Bar, Europe’s most westerly pub, with unforgettable views. A stop at Louis Mulcahy Pottery offered a chance to browse handcrafted ceramics and take in more of the peninsula’s artistic charm.

The afternoon was all about adventure, with pier jumping and crab fishing at Ventry Pier, a big hit with the kids. That evening, they dined at James Long’s Gastropub — another must-book spot with excellent food and a relaxed atmosphere.

Day 3 –  Marine Life, Explorers & More Pier Jumping

Originally, the group had booked coasteering with WildWaterAdventures.ie in Tralee, but it was cancelled due to sea conditions. Fortunately, Dingle Oceanworld Aquarium came to the rescue. This indoor attraction turned out to be a highlight of the trip — even more so with €15 saved thanks to the Trident Holiday Homes discount code.

Lunch was in Annascaul at the historic South Pole Inn, once owned by Antarctic explorer Tom Crean. With chowder on the menu and Crean memorabilia on the walls, it was a great mix of good food and local history.

In the afternoon, it was back to the water — this time at Ballydavid Pier, where more pier jumping filled the rest of the day with laughs and splashes.

Day 4 –  Mountain Views, Mini Golf & a Fishy Finish

Wednesday started with a scenic drive over Conor Pass, one of Ireland’s highest mountain passes, en route to Peddler’s Lake — said (by locals and TikTok alike) to be Ireland’s highest lake. It’s a short but steep climb, with views well worth the effort.

The afternoon was spent at Dingle Pitch and Putt, just five minutes from the holiday home. At €10 per person, it was great value, and with crazy golf and soccer golf also available, there was something to suit all ages.

Dinner was kept simple with fish and chips from Reel Dingle Fish — fresh, quick, and delicious after a busy day out and about.

Bonus: Splash Sports & a Missed Safari

On Thursday, the group had booked the Dingle Sea Safari (with a €30 discount via Trident), but once again, sea conditions meant it had to be cancelled — much to everyone’s disappointment.

Not one to waste the day, they drove 40 minutes to Castlegregory to visit Splash Sports, an outdoor water activity centre with inflatables, paddleboarding, kayaking, and trampolining. Wetsuits can be hired on-site, and pricing was very reasonable, making it a fantastic family-friendly alternative.

Dinner that evening was at Murphy’s in Dingle, one of the few places accepting walk-ins. Booking ahead is key, especially in summer.

Final Thoughts

Even with a few last-minute changes to plans, this four-day break in Dingle was filled with stunning scenery, fun activities, and great food. Whether it’s feeding alpacas, jumping off a pier, or learning about polar explorers over a bowl of chowder, Dingle has something for everyone.

And with savings from the Trident Holiday Homes discount codes, it made for great value too.

One thing’s for sure – they’ll be back again soon, with the Dingle Sea Safari still on the to-do list!Â
